SALARY RANGE: $35,000 - $40,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits package

Position Summary:

Reporting to and under the direction of the Senior Manager of Communications, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the overall communications and public relations activities for the company and the Centre for Dance Education. This role supports Atlanta Ballet’s communications projects, acts as a liaison with outside public relations agency and collaborates closely with all other Ballet departments to synchronize integrated marketing and communications projects.

Please note that this is not a social media role. Social media activities will not fall under the responsibility of the Communications Coordinator.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of communications activities for Atlanta Ballet and its Centre for Dance Education, including writing and distributing emails, compiling blog posts and updating website copy, with a view to supporting performances, classes, community engagement programs and special events (i.e. fundraisers, ball, open house events, etc.)
  • Support retained PR agency with execution of media campaigns, including but not limited to:
    • Drafting and editing of public relations collateral materials including biographies, press releases, calendar listings, media alerts and background information documents as required
    • Serving as primary communications/PR liaison to Company dancers and staff to fulfill any PR-related requests for guest appearances or interviews
    • Working with Company Manager, Production staff, and Artistic Director to ensure Atlanta Ballet PR activities are in accordance with the dancers’ union and Atlanta Ballet dancer contracts
    • Assisting with media ticket requests
  • Manage approval process of images and videos, including approval of the artistic director, dancers, and choreographer, when needed.
  • Daily monitoring of media coverage and maintenance of digital press archives.
  • Manage daily website updates and maintenance under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Communications.
  • Compose and distribute emails for Atlanta Ballet and the Centre for Dance Education. Monitor results and compile reports as assigned.
  • Submit events and calendar listings to appropriate publications and assist with the compiling of advertorials as assigned.
  • Assist in the production and editing of playbills and casting inserts for all performances.
  • Assist in the building of narratives that reflect Atlanta Ballet’s mission, vision, and values. Helping to research and write engaging editorial content as assigned.
  • Maintain and distribute key messages documentation as needed in response to media and patron inquiries.
  • Develop, implement, and manage community events and promotions as needed.
  • Assist with the packing of inventory and set up at the theater for performances.
  • Expect duties to include nights and weekends.
  • Fiscal responsibilities:
    • Process and track all departmental payables under the guidance of the Chief Marketing Officer.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years of work experience in public relations, communications or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • Ability to understand and bring diversity and inclusion into their work is a priority.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, creativity, organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to self-start, prioritize, multi-task, coordinate, work both independently and collaboratively and have a great sense of urgency.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products
  • Knowledge of AP Style Guide

This is a full-time, in office position.

Salary range is $35,000 - $40,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits package.
