Salon de Danse flyerSunday, October 30 at 5pm The Rialto Center for the Arts Click here for tickets. This year, Atlanta Ballet has assembled some of the world’s most celebrated choreographers for our 11-12 season. From dance legend Twyla Tharp to ballet’s newest rising stars, this season will bring you to the forefront of dance today. As a part of this movement to bring current, provocative dance to Atlanta, we encourage you to explore the wide range of dance events that the city has to offer this year. The Rialto Center for the Arts and France-Atlanta present an exciting new work from French choreographer Pierre Rigal. As one of the premiere up-and-coming choreographers in France today, Rigal is known for utilizing his untraditional background as an economics and mathematics student at University of Barcelona and a student of cinema at the Ecole Supérieure d’Audiovisuel de Toulouse to inform his highly contemporary and theatrical works. Pierre Rigal’s Asphalte weaves together high-energy elements of hip-hop and contemporary dance with an artistic light show, making it a true multi-media creation. The work, which originally debuted in 2009 at the Suresnes Cités Danse Festival in France, is an exploration of modern urban reality as animated by a troupe of five young dancers, known as the Compagnie Derniere Minute.

Pre-show event starts at 7 PM with gloATL artists! Post-Show Wine and Cheese Reception included in the ticket price!
